House on the Rock, the church which plays host to the biggest gospel event in Africa ‘The Experience’ is about to make yet another historic event, as she rolls out the red carpet to receive the Hon. Bishop T.D. Jakes for his third visit to Nigeria. HOTR will be hosting Bishop J.D. Jakes at the Spirit Life Conference from the 23rd of August to the 27th 2017, at the magnificent Rock Cathedral Lekki Lagos.
Thomas Dexter Jakes is a pastor, author, song writer, entrepreneur, filmmaker and philanthropist. Very few people in the history of mankind have made the kind of impact that this sensational preacher whose name has become synonymous with the message of hope and recovery, has made.
Born in West Virginia, United States of America in 1957, he began pastoring, at an early age of 17 at the Greater Emmanuel Temple of Faith, a small church with about 10 members. Today as the presiding bishop over the Potter’s House Ministries, he shepherds a congregation of well over 30,000 members.
He is the convener of the popular ‘Woman thou art Loose’ conference, the ‘ManPower conference’ and ‘MegaFest’ which draws about 300,000 people. He is the author of over 30 books; such as “woman thou art loose, Maximize the moment, God’s leading Lady, Naked and not ashamed… and a myriad of catching titles. As a filmmaker he has produced movies which include: Winnie Mandela, Miracles from Heaven, Woman thou art loosed… and a host of others. As if that’s not enough, T.D Jakes is a T.V host and an accomplished songwriter who have won both the Grammy award and nominated for the dove awards. His non-profit humanitarian arm of The Potter’s House ministries called MegaCARE has delivered help to those in need; from providing food, clothes and shelter to hurricane victims of America, to digging water bore-holes for the famine patched villages in Africa.
Bishop Jakes has had his share of awards with about 13 honorary degrees and doctorates. Best Gospel Album at the 46th Grammy Awards 2003, Dove Award nominations, Time Magazine cover page America’s Best Preacher” 2001, Time Magazine 25 most influential evangelicals 2005, Ebony Magazine’s ‘power 100 list’ 2011, among so many others.
You will agree with me that it will indeed be an honor to have him grace the soil of Nigeria, especially at such a time as this. We join House on the Rock and the entire nation to say ‘welcome, Bishop’.
