The Estonian Ride-hailing platform, Taxify, is expanding its services to cater to more cities in Nigeria. The company recently launched its ride-hailing service in Ibadan and Owerri, becoming one of the few ride-hailing services existing outside Lagos and Abuja.
The company raked in $175 million in its last funding round earlier this year, and they intend to utilize the investment to make their services available in a lot more places especially across Africa. Taxify connects millions of passengers and drivers around the world to make commuting easier, quicker and more reliable. The platform makes use of mobile apps on both Android and iOS. Ibadan and Owerri will be the third and fourth cities to enjoy the services in Nigeria, preceded by Lagos and Abuja.
According to Uche Okafor, Country Manager for Taxify Nigeria, popular trips in Ibadan city such as from University of Ibadan to Palms Mall, Ring Road would cost between N1,400 – N2,100; Akobo to Ventura Mall Samonda would also cost between N1,000 – N1,300; and Samonda to Cocoa Mall, Dugbe would cost between N700 – N900.
Also, in Owerri, the Airport to Concorde/World bank would cost between N4,000 to N5,000; FUTO/Nekede to IMSU/Ikenegbu would cost between N2000– N2500; while Ikenegbu/Wetheral to Egbu/Owerri Mall would cost between N600 – N900.
Taxify is also treating customers to a 20% discount on all rides for the month of October 2018. Passengers can enjoy a free first ride with the promo codes HELLOIBADAN and HIOWERRI when they use the card payment option on the Taxify app.
