Taking Care Of Your Oily Face

oily face
Oily face/ skin is caused by overactive sebaceous glands that are affected by a variety of stimuli such as humidity, heat or even stimulation by aggressive scrubbing or washing. It’s an internal problem, there is little that can be done except for treating it externally with a variety of cleansers. However, it is important to strike a balance with treatment as stripping the skin of all oil causes the body to overcompensate and produce more oil which eventually leads to breakouts and blemishes.

Learning how to take care of your oily face takes time and patience, read on to learn how to:

Wash your face
It is important to wash your face daily to help remove dirt and oil from the skin. If you have an oily face, you might want to consider washing twice a day (morning and night). Wash your face with lukewarm water and follow up with a moisturizer to keep your face hydrated. For the ladies, it is important to remove your make up before washing your face.
Don’t sleep on a dirty pillowcase
A pillowcase absorbs dirt, grime, and grease and you spend 6-8 hours a night resting your face on them. To keep your face clean and clear, always sleep on a freshly cleaned pillowcase .
Always moisturize
Make sure you always always moisturize your face and skin generally. As moisturizing ensures your skin is getting adequately hydrated. Choose an oil free, matte moisturizer to maintain your skin’s pH balance
Stop touching your face
This is a habit I’m guilty of :-). Touching your face every time transfers the dirt and germs from your hand to your skin which can aggravate breakout. Use the right makeup products Get makeup products that are suitable for your skin. Whether it’s foundation, concealer or bronzer, select products carefully and specify that you have an oily face whilst buying. Buy products specifically designed for an oily face. And also, wash your makeup brushes and foams.
