Goal

The Super Eagles of Nigeria settled for a 1-1 draw against the Brazilian national team in their international friendly held at the Singapore National Stadium on Sunday, October 13, 2019.

With barely 11 minutes played, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star, Neymar, picked up an injury which  meant he was done with the encounter. Lille Osc of France striker, Victor Osimhen, had the first chance to put the Super Eagles ahead in the 15th minute of the encounter but Man City goalkeeper, Ederson, parried his shot out of goal. Nigerian goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho was called to the test in the 27th minute with a Gabriel Jesus header which the Eagles shot-stopper also parried away. A few minutes later, the Brazilians would have had the advantage after Phillipe Coutinho set up Roberto Firmino in the 18-yard box, but the Liverpool FC of England forward directed his shot straight at Uzoho.

A cross from Osimhen in the 35th minute would locate Simon Moses, whose brilliant touch saw him perfectly control the ball and lay a pass for the onrushing Aribo, who seized the opportunity to weave past Marquinhos before slotting the ball past Ederson.

Brazil equalized in the 48th minute of the second half after a cross from captain Dani Alves was headed on to the bar by Maquinhos, and Casemiro was at the right spot to tap in the goal.

In the 52nd minute, a cross from Chukwueze located Osimhen, whose header went straight into the hands of the Brazilian goalkeeper, well-positioned. Rachalison’s header in the 60th minute hit the crossbar before the ball was cleared by the Nigerian defense line. Uzoho was substituted in the 63rd minute due to an injury, paving way for debutant, Maduka Okoye. All attempts on goal for both sides proved unproductive as the game ended in a stalemate.
