Super Eagles of Nigeria Rise to 53rd Position in Latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Ranking

Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed four places up to 53rd in the latest monthly FIFA/Coca-Cola ranking, which was released on Thursday. In July, Super Eagles dropped to 57th – their worst position in 2015. Despite the climb, they still remain 10th in Africa with 601 points. Algeria remain the best team in Africa, followed by Ivory Coast and Ghana. Tunisia, Senegal, Cameroon, Congo, Cape Verde, and Egypt are also placed above Nigeria. Argentina still occupy the number one spot in the world ahead of Germany and Belgium, despite their Copa America final loss to Chile last month. Chile squeezed into the top ten at the expense of the Netherlands, who dropped two places to 12th in the world. Former world champions, Brazil and Spain occupy fifth and eleventh place respectively. The next FIFA ranking will be released on September 3, 2015.
