CAFCC: Eyimba Fc Drawn With Williamsville Athletic & Two Others In Group C

The only Nigerian club left in the CAF Confederations Cup, Eyimba International Football Club, have been drawn into Group C alongside Djoliba, Williamsville Athletic Club and CARA Brazzaville in the CAF Confederation Cup draw on Saturday in Cairo, Egypt. Major Group C contender, Djoliba will slug it out with the people’s elephant in the first group game on May 6. Djoliba who knocked out MFM FC in the play-off rounds will be looking to beat two-time African champions at the UJ Esuene Stadium to move a step closer to booking one of two quarter-final spots available. Williamsville AC and CARA Brazzaville will also face each other in day one of the group stage fixtures.

Ighalo Hits 4 Goals In Changchun Yatai’s Away Win

Nigerian forward, Odion Ighalo made a remarkable performance for Changchun Yatai in their 2-5 away win against Guizhou Zhicheng on Saturday. Ighalo put in a goal for Changchun Yatai in the 24th minute from the penalty spot to give them the lead, however the host team leveled up the scores 9 minutes later from Du Wei’s goal. About two minutes later, Changchun Yatai got back in the lead courtesy a goal from Tan Long.Three minutes later, Inhale would put the visitors two goals up. On the hour mark Guizhou Zhicheng added another goal when Wang Fan found the back of the net. Twenty-six minutes later, Ighalo scored his third goal for the visitors, and at stoppage time, the Nigerian added his fourth to give Changchun Yatai the win. Ighalo has now scored five goals in four games for Changchun Yatai this season.

Happy Birthday, Captain Mikel Obi

NFF and Chelsea used their social media pages to celebrate Super Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi on his 31st birthday. The player was born in Jos, North Central part of Nigeria on April 22, 1987. He began his youth career 15 years later with Nigerian side, Plateau United. Mikel won the FIFA World Youth Championship Silver ball in 2005, he was the African Young Player of the Year for two consecutive years (2005 and 2006). The skipper was also part of the Nigerian team that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations, and the team that came in third at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Chelsea FC wrote on twitter. “We also wish former Blue, John Mikel Obi, a very happy birthday today!”
