In a bid to make Nigerian sports more viable, the Nigerian Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, has revealed that plans have been concluded towards launching the country into the global trending E-gaming sports. The minister revealed this information during a webinar aimed at steps towards reactivating the sports sector after the global pandemic, corona virus.

Speaking further, the Minister also disclosed that plans towards reviving the long abandoned Mambilla Plateau Area into a training ground for athletes that do long distance races especially in the North, were underway. Mr. Dare added that reviving the Mambila was necessary especially owing to the fact that non-contact sports in Nigeria will soon resume as the effects of corona virus winds down. The ministry also noted that while it is doing few necessary things at the sports ministry level, it is equally open to new creative ideas that can work better for the entire sports sector.

Commenting on youth empowerment, information from the minister also made public the fact that more than two million youth were expected to benefit from training and entrepreneurship programs that will be funded through the Central Bank’s federal government job acquisition initiative.
