Social Media Week a worldwide event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media is coming to Nigeria for the first time next year. The event has been held in 26 cities around the world in the last four years of its inception, and has more than hundred thousand members. The event will be coming to Lagos, to further its mission – to help people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas and information.
The event in Lagos is in collaboration with Dragon Africa and AFRIKA21, and will be held from February 18 – 23, 2013. Speaking on the Lagos event, the Founder of Dragon Africa, Obi Asika said, “I am truly excited to have succeeded to bring this event home to Lagos, the largest black city in the world, I believe that we Nigerians are viral in social media and this event will showcase all the innovative ways we are using social media to impact our daily lives, it is only proper that this event should be coming to Lagos as its first African destination. We are reaching out to people all over the continent to get involved and come over to Lagos.”
