The 1992 classic Living In Bondage has been hailed as the movie that set the ball rolling for Nollywood. It was the first full-length Nollywood movie to ever be produced and it paved the way for the blockbusters that have graced the silver screen over the years.
As a result, when it was announced that a sequel to the 1992 classic was in the works, there was an understandable buzz about the announcement. Indeed, the sequel, Living In Bondage: Breaking free, lived up to expectations and it has been gathering accolades since it hit the cinemas.

The movie’s success can be credited to its exceptional plot and directors, but it also comes down to the phenomenal performances of the actors. While the movie featured veterans like Kenneth Okonkwo, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Ramsey Nouah, and Kalu Ikeagwu, it also included a good number of new generation stars. These actors held their own alongside their older counterparts and proved with their performances that Nollywood is on the right path.

Swanky J.K.A
Taking the lead role as Nnamdi Okeke, the son of Andy Okeke, Swanky J.K.A. has succeeded in making his first big hit in Nollywood. He started out as a model before venturing into acting and getting cast on Living In Bondage: Breaking Free. Born Jide-Kene Achufus, Swanky starred in the 2016 movie Poka Messiah which shot him into the limelight. He also presided as a judge at the TWS2016 model call. With his outstanding performance in Living In Bondage: Breaking Free, Swanky appears to have a great acting career ahead of him.
Nancy Isime
Another fast-rising star in the industry, Nancy Isime is a beautiful, stylish, and talented entertainer. She played the role of “Stella” in Living In Bondage: Breaking Free and describes the character as “Feisty”. She had her big break when she won the Miss Valentine International Beauty Paegent of 2009. Asides from acting, Nancy is also a model and media personality.
Enyinna Nwigwe
For most movie lovers conversant with contemporary Nollywood films, Eyinna Nwigwe is no new face. He is best known for movies like the Wedding Party, Black Gold, and Black November. Eyinna played the role of “Obinna Omego” in the Living In Bondage sequel and he describes the role as “the darkest character he has ever played as an actor.” With the calibre of movies he has appeared in, the actor is apparently one of Nollywood’s most sought-after male actors.

Munachi Abii
In 2007, Munachi Abii made her name when she won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant. Since then, she has strived to explore other career paths including music and acting. Considering her recent casting in the Living In Bondage sequel, it is apparent that her efforts paid off. Perhaps, this is a clear indication that we might just be seeing Munachi in more Nollywood flicks.
