The new partners of the NFF, Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group on Friday signed a three year partnership with the Nigerian football body to sponsor the team’s man of the match awards which is now called the ‘Big Bull Rice man’
The award which consisted a cash prize of N1 million, alongside 10 bags of Big Bull Rice to be donated to a charity of the player’s choice, was presented to defender Shehu Abdullahi for his extraordinary performance at the end of the game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday by the Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group’s MD for emerging the best player of the match.
Shehu Abdullahi was voted man of the match following a superb performance for the team on Saturday that saw him display great sleight in creating an opening that led to A. Iwobi’s goal which secured Nigeria’s place in the FIFA World Cup finals next year in Russia.
Other group B competitors, Cameroon and Algeria have been eliminated from the qualifiers despite Cameroon’s 2:0 victory over Algeria in Yaounde to put them at 6 points, 5 points ahead of the Algerians. Zambia is in second place behind Nigeria with 7 points on the Group B table.
The final games are scheduled for next month.
