Scottish Premier League Giants Keen on Oshaniwa

Scottish Premier League Champions, Celtic have reportedly enquired about the availability of Nigerian left-back, Juwon Oshaniwa. The Israel-based defender claimed Celtic contacted his club, FC Ashdod over a possible transfer this January. Speaking to BBC, Oshaniwa said, “My club have told me that Celtic have contacted them about me and said they were interested in me. “A move to play for Celtic would be a dream come true for me,” he continued. The 24-year-old, who had attracted interests from Hull City and other English club sides in the past, will be hoping to join compatriot Efe Ambrose at the club. Interestingly, Ambrose joined Celtic from FC Ashdod in 2012. Oshaniwa has expressed his desire to link up with the lanky right-back. “I would be so happy to meet up with my international team mate Efe Ambrose. I would love to play at Celtic. I have heard great things about the club and know how big they are. “I have played on the biggest stage at the World Cup and it’s time for me to move on. Football is a game of movement and it is time for me to move to a big club. I would love to play with them in the Champions League,” Oshaniwa enthused. Oshaniwa started his career with Nigerian Premier League club Kwara United in 2007 and also featured for Lobi Stars and Sharks of Port-Harcourt before leaving for FC Ashdod in 2012. He was part of Super Eagles’ 2013 African Cup of Nations winning team and also featured in all Super Eagles’ matches at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He has 18 months left to run in his current deal with FC Ashdod and has rejected the club’s new proposition for him to extend his deal.   About the Author: Arinze Ude (@arturozinga) is an aspiring cancer research scientist with a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (Haematology).
