Samsung appears ready to uncover the Galaxy S5, the newest version of its flagship smartphone, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 24.
The new smartphone is to feature a bigger screen, incorporated biometric scanners and additional peripherals, including a smartwatch. With the competition provided by its Apple counterparts with their recent release of the iPhone 5C and 5S, Samsung might be anticipating its weakest mobile growth in seven years.
The company has been under pressure to improve performance after the release of the iPhone 5S, the first smartphone to incorporate 64-bit architecture. Samsung will also be in for stiffer challenges after Apple’s penetration of the Chinese market as well as Lenovo’s recent acquisition of Motorola Mobility.
