Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Sales Set to Resume by September 28

Samsung, famed for being the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer ceased sales of their latest phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, after several frantic reports of the device catching fire due to a battery fault that causes the device to overheat. Samsung proceeded with a global recall of all 2.5 million Galaxy Note7 units sold until that point and is also gradually rolling out replacement units for those who had received the faulty phablet prior to September 2. In order for users to differentiate the replacement units from the faulty ones, Samsung changed the colour of the battery icon in the replacement units to green instead of the traditional white colour.

While the replacement units are still rolling out, those that may want to purchase a new (and safe) unit can look forward to a date. Samsung plans to resume sales of the Galaxy Note7 on September 28 in South Korea, and in “other countries when conditions allow”, according to a company spokeswoman. The device should be available globally and in online stores presumably by early October.
