Super Eagles chief coach, Gernot Rohr, is set to be presented with a new contract by the Nigeria Football Federation in January, 2020, five months before his current contract with the Eagles expires.
The new deal is expected to spell out certain terms and conditions that the German must adhere to.
However, the President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has noted that should Rohr reject the contract, the federation will hire a new coach. The German tactician took charge of the Super Eagles in August 2016. He qualified Nigeria for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and led the Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt. Rohr’s current contract with the Eagles will expire in June 2020.
Pinnick went expressed NFF’s willingness to retain the services of the German tactician, but with terms in the contract that promotes Nigeria’s interest.
We… want to institute some things that would protect the interest of Nigeria and its football in the new contract. That is why we are starting next month so that he can have enough time to study the offer and accept [it].
