Head coach of the Nigerian national team, Gernot Rohr, has released a 23-man list for Nigeria’s friendly against Brazil on October 13, 2019.
Slavia Prague’s Peter Olayinka is the only new invitee to the team after his exploits in the UEFA Champions League where, he scored Slavia’s only goal in a 1-1 draw against Italian league giants, Inter Milan. The Super Eagles will file out against the South Americans without team captain Ahmed Musa, who is still recovering from an injury. Other exclusions from the squad include Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Leon Balogun, and Bryan Idowu.
However, the German tactician has recalled the services of Ramon Azeez, who last featured for the West African side at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Azeez has been impressive for his Spanish club Granada FC, where he scored against league champions FC Barcelona in a 2-0 victory over the weekend. Wilfred Ndidi returns to the team after missing out on the Ukraine friendly on September 10, 2019 due to an injury. The game between the 2019 AFCON bronze medalists and the 2019 Copa America champions is scheduled to hold at the Singapore National Stadium.
