EbonyLife TV’s new legal drama series titled Castle and Castle stars ace actors, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Dakore Akande, in lead role. The series which will start on the 1st of July, 2018 will be exclusively available on EbonyLife Television.
plot
It follows the life of Remi Castle, a beautiful, brilliant female lawyer, and her husband Tega Castle, a former law professor who taught her in law school 20 years ago. Tega is a passionate human rights lawyer who has to put in extra effort to get cases, especially owing to the changes the firm has had to undergo over the years. Remi loves her husband but does not agree with his legal interests or choice of clients. She would rather have wealthy and affluent clients who are not averse to paying massive retainers. They decide to divide their strengths to represent different sides of the law.
Being a married couple, who work together, they have to put up with a myriad of issues that affect their work and pose a threat to their marriage. There is a fierce competition between family and business. According to the producers, the series will attempt to show how the couple team up against external forces while tearing at each other when their individual interests and preferences are at conflict.
Casting Nollywood heavyweights as the lead characters in the drama is a daring move, following a trend made popular by Hollywood, where top movie actors are moving over to television and creating blockbuster drama series. Whether or not other Nigerian TV producers will follow suit remains to be seen.
The shooting of Castle and Castle began late last year. It is Nigeria’s first ever legal drama television series, produced by Isioma Osaje and Temidayo Abudu, and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, Tope Oshin and Kenneth Gyang.
