I’ve always known that the architectural design of a place could colour one’s perception and memory of it. That of Today’s Bukka certainly impacted mine. The hunger that drove me to the restaurant was quickly forgotten as I beheld its entrance. My first thought as I stood in silent admiration of the rock-hewn gateway was “here’s a restaurant that was designed to either tell a story or give an ancient feel.” It looks like the entrance to an ancient castle. Needless to say, I was charmed by its rustic look and became eager to see the rest of it.
I must say that I wasn’t disappointed with the restaurant’s interior design. It is a beautiful blend of the old and the new. The artworks and the artistic drawings on the wall are a great touch. You’ve got to admire the effort that was devoted to creating an African setting. I, for one, could hear the bold announcement of the decor that this was a modernized Bukka. I appreciated the restraint that went into keeping it lovely and realistic. Today’s Bukka was the first restaurant I visited when I arrived in Abuja two weeks ago. I loved the warm, lively environment and the food.
Today’s Bukka is known for its tea. I’m not a fan of tea but my sister, Oliaku encouraged me to try theirs. So, I ordered ginger, lemon and honey tea. I must say that there’s a healing quality to the tea served at this restaurant. In fact, I knew from my first sip that my dining experience there would never be complete until I had their tea.
There are local and continental dishes on the menu of this restaurant, as well. I’ve tried some of the local delicacies like the Ewagoyin and Sauce, Bukka Rice and Bukka salad. So, I can say that the food here is delicious as well. The meals are freshly made and you just have to give them points for presentation. The portions are okay and the prices are moderate. The fact that you can choose a larger or smaller portion is quite commendable. The suya at Today’s Bukka is a must-try. There are different varieties for you to choose from and they taste great too.
Today’s Bukka offers twenty-four hours of service to customers. Quite frankly, their service is great. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. I appreciated their effort in reducing the waiting time for food. But they also have games on the table to keep customers entertained while they wait. My sister mentioned that their delivery service is prompt too. Thus, if you can’t come to Today’s Bukka, the Bukka can come to you.
In conclusion, Today’s Bukka is an excellent spot for local delicacies. You should check them out if you live in or visit Abuja.
