Life Strategist Steve Harris presents the second part of a six-part series on the adventures and escapades of Samson in the book of Judges. Be sure to catch up on the first part of #RealScript last week in case you missed it.
1. We arrive at Jael’s bar. It’s in the better part of town, in the Valley of Sorek, though all of Philly’s a slum as far as I’m concerned. #RealScript
2. Hazael, Ari, Othni and Shek order a round of drinks and dried dates. #RealScript
3. There’s a Perezite band playing called the Parasites. Hahaha! Their music’s pretty lecherous and the patrons love it. #RealScript
4. There are all sorts of women here. Sorek’s finest. For 30 shekels, you can go home with a Cushite, Amorite & Jebusite babe. #RealScript
5. The Parasites are done. We await the next entertainment. Hazael puts our serving girl on his lap. She empties his wine on his head. #RealScript
6. The next act appears, wearing a long hooded robe. #RealScript
7. The band begins to play. It sounds like music from the campfires of caravans that come from Egypt. #RealScript
8. The hooded figure disrobes and begins to dance. My God, she’s beautiful. #RealScript
9. I’m transfixed. Everything, everyone disappears. I see only her. #RealScript
10. Dark olive skin, coal black hair, eyes like the topaz on the robe of the High Priest, lithe, supple body. #RealScript
11. She leaves the stage and dances between the patrons who reach for her, but she slips from their grasp. #RealScript
12. She’s walking towards me. My heart’s racing. Be still o my soul. A bead of sweat falls from my brow. #RealScript
13. She looks me dead in the eye. There are very few people who can make eye contact with me. #RealScript
14. I catch her scent, a whiff of honey and nectar. I feel a stirring in my loins. I must have her. #RealScript
15. I’ve never felt this way about any woman before. Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh #RealScript
16. The music grows faster, she dances with the frenzy of an Ashtoreth priestess. #RealScript
17. Spinning and spinning around the room. Her eyes firmly locked on mine. #RealScript
18. The music stops abruptly. She falls on the floor and slowly walks out of the room. The patrons empty purses and call her name. #RealScript
19. Delilah! Delilah! Delilah! #RealScript
20. Thus, I learned the name of the mystery beauty. #RealScript
21. Little did I know this was the beginning of my end. #RealScript
