‘We Are Ready For England’ – Mikel

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, is confident that the Nigeria senior men’s football team will make the best of all they’ve learnt so far as they play England on June 2, at the Wembley Stadium, London. The Super Eagles’ performance in their international friendlies have been quite disheartening  so far after the team totally dominated the Argentine side in last year’s Messi-less friendly; the Super Eagles only barely made it past Poland with a 1-0 win but lost 2-0 to Serbia days later. However, Mikel Obi is very ecstatic for the England friendly because the team is ready and will definitely do better than in their last two friendly games.
“The match comes up only two weeks before our first match at the FIFA World Cup… It will be a big occasion and a big match for both teams as we both look forward to our respective first matches in Russia. England is a special place for me having spent so many years playing there, and it is one country I love to go to. We are already talking to ourselves and everyone is looking forward to the game.” — Obi
The Super Eagles are expected to take on DR Congo in a farewell friendly at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on May 28th, then proceed to England to face the Three Lions at the Wembley Stadium on June 2, and Czech Republic a few days later before their first FIFA World Cup main event game in Russia against Croatia on June 16.
