Poem of the Week: So Now Arise- A Tribute to Eureka
Nehi Igbinijesu
O First love
A sweet despair
A damsel to fall for
A tale made up
Of blood drenched hearts
And butterfly full stomachs
Real as it seems
The moments ran away
Leaving only memories
Of glade and grey
Laughter, then tears
A concoct sublime
Followed by teary skies
And shivering blizzard colds
After which comes the redemption
Sunshine’s blissful eureka
Of grace to realize
It was part-God, part-Man
Dusted- I now arise!
In love’s grand plan
This Poem is part of the anthology of 30 Poems titled: “Dirges of The Niger” By Nehi Igbinijesu, and ends the Dirges of the Niger Project.‘So now arise’ is a call to get up and continue the first for a better society. It talks about the lofty aspirations every young person has for Nigeria and how the system dashes those dreams through its inefficiencies. Yet in all the difficulty, a glimmer of hope lingers in our hearts, and holding on to that little light may just be what sees us through a somewhat dark tunnel to our dreams. It is a call to never quit. So now Arise!
