Poem of the Week: Lessons from Ivanhoe

Nehi Igbinijesu Stars, whistles, bottles, thistles Who the future light will tell Furores, discos, livid occidentals Tomorrow pray we turnout well Prime free lendings Of dirty funny money The demure everlasting Withering furtive fishes Causing sneezes and colds From Cathay to Santiago Reeling films of pain O’ Democratic Congo And money grubbing jeers Of political benefactors The tacit turgid tears O’ blackened coastlines Daring dodgy, depleting dollars Yet techies left no buffer Dreams deemed – dismissed United in dim-witted denials Entranced and drawn pit-ward One no-more-oil day Or no-more-dollar pay Arise o Niger Learn lessons from Ivanhoe The fury comes allay Sweet supple breasted mother Defy the tete-a-tete Should savannahs have to suffer Umpteen fiscal cliff delays.   This Poem is part of the anthology of 30 Poems titled: “Dirges of The Niger” By Nehi Igbinijesu.
