If only I must sing as poets have,
Where shall my inspiration cometh from,
Would nature be my nurture?
Oh! If only I must sing…
If only I must sing as poets have,
Would my words be a key for Pandora’s box,
Or create a clearer reasoning in flux.
When I desire to pen my thoughts,
Would a specific colour describe some sort?
Perhaps a random colour lays no fault.
Oh! If only I must sing…
If only I must sing as poets have,
Would I romance your ears in delusion?
Or make tongue washing an omission.
An extrovert of truth till condemnation,
Talk more of fleeing from the arms of confrontation.
Oh! If only I must sing…
If only I must sing as poets have,
For rhythm would I be glued to my drums,
Or swap with my guitar in turns.
Perhaps my ribs might serve as strings for songs.
Would it be preferably loud or mild,
Making my tonsils wave sound or wild?
Oh! If only I must sing…
If only I must sing as poets have,
Would my choice of persons be a limitation,
Maybe my kind of poetry would be deemed fit for contemplation.
If its love…would I lust,
If its hate…would I curse,
If its war…would I trust,
If its peace…would I nurse..
Oh! If only I must sing…
If only I must sing as poets have,
What more would you have me put,
Surely the seed of poetry must take root.
Oh! If only I must sing…
