Not here to review the movie with the title “Allegiance” but to review the reward of a strong feeling of support an individual has to another or to Nigeria. A dedication towards the country’s ideologies.
A lot of people try to prove their loyalty to people who aren’t loyal to them. This is because they figure out that they will be tagged as disloyal. Friends swear allegiance to each other only to be later betrayed. There have being cases of misplaced loyalty as many people do not honor their trustworthiness. Take for instance your popular fashion designer, he takes your cloth with the promise to get it sewn within a particular deadline, but balks on his promises. He gets to lose his customers should he repeat the practice.
When talking about allegiance, one thinks about his country. What prize would you pay in order to serve your father’s land? Many do not care about the national anthem or can even recite a line of the nation pledge. The feeling of loyalty and allegiance that results from knowledge and belief is not expressed nevertheless. By our actions, we are no longer patriotic to our nation. People would rather not help in the development of the nation because well
“who Nigeria epp?”
It is appalling to watch youths struggle to cross the borderline of our great nation in search of greener pastures. With many campaigning for #NotTooYoungToLead movement, many others are of the opinion that the motherland do not need their commitment. It may be said to be a case of misplaced loyalty. However, it is our own country which we must develop together so that we all can enjoy the peculiar benefits.
While we sit and fold our arms for our country to serve itself, we are adversely affected by letting the dire situation worsen. Many would notice a fallen national edifice and would not think about repairing. Cases of bad roads and manholes on the road are everywhere, but no individual or collective body ever thinks of fixing it except for a few.
Our nation should not be divided among lines of ethnicity, creed and religion. Rather, be sewn by our loyalty and allegiance to our country and her principles. No one should be greater in following the law, paying our taxes. Devoting our love and also loyalty to the best interests of the nation. We all need to be honest in loving Nigeria. Let us proceed with a voluntary oath from the heart to take the country to greater height.
