Preparations have been concluded for the City of Friends 2018 event, and the artists expected to headline the two-day event have been announced.
The event is sponsored by the Nigerian Breweries brand, “33” Export Lager and is expected hold in Calabar and Lagos with an impressive line-up of indigenous artists including Phyno, Simi, Kiss Daniel, and Fuji maestro, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.
Addressing journalists on the plans already in place for the event, Mr Franco Maria Maggi, the Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries, said the brand is dedicated to creating platforms for celebrating friendship. “We believe that friendship should be celebrated every day. Hence, all our brand activities are geared towards celebrating friendship. To this end, the “33” Export brand, and more broadly Nigerian Breweries Plc., is poised to continually participate in activities that will unite us along these lines. Our plan is to surpass our own best efforts in 2018! Come July 30, 2018, we will join the world again to celebrate friendship in a grand style. I say grand because this time we are taking the celebration to the grassroots.”
The brand is known to have celebrated “World Friendship Day” in Nigeria in the last two years. Previous year’s edition was held at the beachfront behind Landmark Centre, Oniru, Lagos, and had Femi Kuti perform alongside Flavour, MI, Cynthia Morgan and Seyi Shay.
This year’s edition of City of Friends will introduce a writing competition tagged Pen Down For Friendship for which winners will be rewarded with training grants. The event will hold in Calabar on the 28th and 29th of July, and in Lagos on the 3rd and 4th of August.
