Peter Obi Appears Number 1 On Social 100 Most Talked About Africans For May 2022

For May 2022, The Top Charts listed a number of Africans who are responsible for generating online discourse with Presidential Aspirant, Peter Obi, making it first on the list for a period of time. The onetime Governor of Anambra State has gradually captured the hearts of many, particularly the country’s youths. Currently, he is the most followed and admired political figure among Nigerians with a following of over 1,000,000 on Twitter.

His followership on other social media platforms is growing tremendously, too.  His open forum events have got active audiences in attendance and he readily grants interviews with TV and radio stations, often vocal with his inspirational political messages. 

Amongst the other politicians who are vying for the position of Nigeria’s next president, Peter Obi is one of the youngest and the simplest when it comes to dressing code. His focus seems to be on shortening the wasteful expenditure that is often associated with the office of the president. He aims to curb extravagant state ceremonies, resist corruption, shun the siphoning of public funds, etc.

Peter Obi’s catchment is the demographic of Nigerian youth (termed the Internet Generation); people who are at home currently due to the lingering ASUU strike and whose hopeless situation stems from the years of wasteful governance over the years.

Being listed as number one on the Social 100 Most Talked About Africa of May 2022 shows how popular he is increasingly getting on Nigeria’s social media spaces. His opponents Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC and Atiku Abubakar of PDP came 6th and 11th respectively on the list.
