John Boyega Rises Against The Forces of Extinction in ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’

John Boyega, born John Adedayo B. Adegboyega, has no doubt left his mark in the Hollywood and the international entertainment scene this year. He is playing the lead role in the robot-heavy Sci-Fi movie, Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Plot

In Pacific Rim: Uprising, a sequel to the 2013 movie “Pacific Rim”, Boyega plays the role of Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose venerable father died ensuring humanity’s victory against the hideous Kaiju; giant alien monsters that threatened humanity’s existence. Jake, having since abandoned his training to become a criminal, is called to duty when an even more insurmountable threat is unleashed tearing through cities and bring the entire world to its knees. Jake is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy, leading an army of young mech-suited combatants to fight off the interstellar beings.

John Boyega was born in the UK to Nigerian parents and has remained acquainted with his roots. He starred prominently in several reputable films including Star Wars;The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Half Of a Yellow Sun, as well as television series Law & Order: UK, 24: Live Another Day, and even voiced the character Finn in 2015 video game Disney Infinity 3.0 and 2016 – Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He is the winner of the British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) Rising Star Award and the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer, both in 2015.
