The Indiana Pacers have a whole lot to worry about in the coming days with their brilliant star guard, Victor Oladipo, out of action due to a severe right knee injury he suffered on Wednesday night.

A prefatory exam on the Nigerian’s right knee indicates that he will require surgery and may not be in action for the Pacers till the end of the season.

Oladipo is expected to have undergone an MRI on Thursday in Indianapolis, to determine the extent of the damage to his right knee. However, the results are yet to be released.

It is a serious injury and we’ll know more after the MRI. We’re not going to speculate. It’s a tough situation. That kid has a beautiful spirit about him. He has always been one to try and to lift us up. We’ve got to lift him now.” — Coach McMillan

As is the player’s routine to stop difficult shots and passes, Oladipo tried to disrupt a pass to Toronto’s Pascal Siakam in Wednesday night’s game. However, a slight miscalculation on his part sent him crashing to the floor with a bent knee.

I didn’t see what happened. Watching the replay, he stuck his leg while he was falling. That’s when he hit me. It’s just an unfortunate situation. It’s really scary. It’s tough.” — Siakam

Currently one of the best guards in the NBA, Oladipo, is irreplaceable and his absence may very well cost the Pacers their place on the league table as they continue to battle other teams in the Eastern Conference.
