Osaze Odemwingie Donates N1million to Bendel Insurance

Nigerian international striker, Osaze Odemwingie, who currently plays for Stoke City FC in the English Premier League, has donated a whopping sum of N1million to his first Nigerian club side, Bendel Insurance. He made the donation on Sunday through Mr Austin Uwagboe, in addition to the sets of jerseys and training kits he gave to the club earlier this month. The donation was received by Bendel Insurance sole administrator and former Super Eagles, Austin Eguavoen, who was ecstatic and sang Odemwingie’s praises. The former Super Eagles defender also urged other players to imitate Odemwingie and help the cash strapped club. Osaze joins the league of footballers who have financially helped their old clubs. Last year, Spanish footballers, Juan Mata and Michu contributed some money to their old club side, Real Oviedo, thus saving them from bankruptcy. The former Lille, Spartak Moscow, West Brom and Cardiff City striker will be hoping to etch his name on Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi’s mind for the World Cup this summer.
