One More Reason To Love Blackberry: BBM Comes to Android & iOS
Staff Writer
Blackberry has announced that its flagship messenger application, Blackberry Messenger (BBM) is coming to Android and iOS. This will allow users of its phones connect with others on other platforms.
This step comes as Blackberry looks to grow usage across board, with the new Blackberry OS 10 phones, applications, and the licensing of BBM to other platforms forming part of their strategy to level out against their competitors; Apple, Samsung, and Chat Apps like WhatsApp.
The CEO of Blackberry, Mr Thorsten Heins, said; “You might ask the question; ‘Why is Blackberry doing this now?’ It’s a statement of confidence. The Blackberry 10 platform is so strong and the response has been so good that we are confident the time is right for Blackberry Messenger to become an independent multi-platform messaging solution. Our vision is that any device that is connected … can be part of the BlackBerry 10 environment.”
