The former Chelsea FC of England star made this revelation during a chat on the YouTube channel of his fellow Nigerian teammate and Watford FC of England defender, William Troost-Ekong. Omeruo is hopeful of being at the next Olympics with the Nigerian U-23 national team, popularly known as the Dream Team. Omeruo, 27, has been a mainstay in the Super Eagles since making his national team debut at just the age of 19 in an international friendly game against Cape Verde on January 9, 2013. The centre back was part of the 2013 AFCON-winning Super Eagles squad but is still eager for more laurels at the national team level. He said:
“One of my dreams is to play at the Olympics, the next one would be in 2023…I would be 29 or 30 years old by then, but I still want to play at the games.’’
Coach Gernot Rohr will be banking on the experience of players like Omeruo when the Super Eagles take on the Central African Republic in a two-legged Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers in October 2021. Source: Complete Sports Featured Image Source: The Pride Of London
