There wasn’t too much activity for Team Nigeria on this day. With some of our hopefuls losing out in other sports, we are anxiously waiting for the athletics events to start and also for Chika Chukwumerije to show us again what winning a medal feels like.
Day three saw Nigerian Light heavy weight boxer, Lukmon Lawal brushed aside by Jordan’s Ihab Almatbouli. Ihab was no match for Lawal, running away with 19-7 win.
The match saw Ihab make history as Jordan’s first Olympic boxer and he celebrated this feat in superb fashion by trouncing his Nigerian rival to make it to the last-16 of the competition.
