24 year-old Doreen Amata cleared her season best height of 1.90m in the Women’s High Jump event but it wasn’t enough to thrust her into the final round of the competition as she finished in 17th position.
In the Men’s Triple jump event, 31 year old London-born Tosin Oke finished in 7th position, jumping a distance of 16.95m as American college students, Christian Taylor (22years) and Will Claye (21years) picked up the gold and silver medals respectively. 36 year old Fabrizio Donato of Italy collected the bronze medal.
Our Women’s 4 x 100m relay team ran a good race even though they were impeded by baton exchange and finished in season best time of 42.74seconds in the Heats, which was overly enough to force them into the final round. They will run the finals in lane 2 later today.
Nigeria’s Amarachi Favour Obiajunwa was overpowered by her Chinese counterpart Jiao Wang in the Women’s 72kg freestyle wrestling round of 16.
