Okonjo-iweala Wins ALM’s ‘African Female Leader of the Year Award

  Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has won the “African Female Leader of the Year” award from African Leadership Magazine (ALM).

According to ALM’s announcement, the category was part of the “11th African Leadership of the Year Award – 2022”. The African Leadership Person of the Year is a vote-based award given annually to leading Africans who make positive progress and promote a favourable image of the continent. The annual awards event is also a platform for celebrating and commemorating people-centred leadership and Africans pursuing a pan-African agenda in their chosen field of work. According to the statement, at the end of the poll on Dec. 2, 2022, Okonjo-Iweala received more than 60 per cent of the more than 15,000 votes in the category.

According to the president of the awards, Ken Giami, nominees see progress, while others see the decline and see opportunity amid challenges. “They are on a mission and eager to lead Africa to the promised land,” he said.  Register to attend the CN Business Mixer Other winners in various categories include Hakainde Hichilema, President of Zambia – African Political Leader of the Year; and Patrice Motsepe, Founder and Executive Chairman of African Rainbow Minerals – African Industrialist of the Year.
