It’s official! The one and only Okechukwu Ofili of Ofilispeaks.com is now the author of a published children’s book. He announced the news on his official website, unveiling Afro: The Girl With Magical Hair. Excerpt:
After what seems to be like an eternity … actually it’s 1 year, 7 months, and 17 days, 34 minutes and 12 seconds from the day I wrote the original AFRO blog article, the book is finally complete! As in … I am now officially a published author of a children’s book, even though I still am scared of children.
The story follows the adventures of Afro, a girl with unique abilities who must save her kingdom, Yackiland, from an evil queen set on stopping them from growing their own natural hair. Through the tale, Ofili explores the themes of beauty and self-affirmation with beautiful illustrations guaranteed to captivate your little ones. Okechukwu Ofili is a motivational speaker, author and the founder of digital publishing platform, Okadabooks.com. Connectnigeria interviewed him a few years ago (links below) and it’s great to see his overall success over the years. He was also one of the speakers at our first Writers Conference in 2014, and our second Writer’s Conference held earlier this year.
