AS Varese striker, Nnamdi Oduamadi was the hero of the day when he scored a late equaliser to deny Kenya a historic win over the Super Eagles.
The striker struck three minutes into stoppage time after coming on as a second half sub for Sunday Mba, who’s the focal point of a tug of war between Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers.
The late goal was enough to deny Kenya all three points in their 2014 Group F World Cup qualifier.
The Kenyans had earlier stunned the Calabar crowd when Francis Kahata curled a free kick past the Nigerian wall and into the net in the first half.
The 1-1 result means that the jinx of the failure of an AFCON winning team to win their next competitive game after the African Cup of Nations lives on.
The draw means Nigeria has 5 points, having drawn twice and won once after 3 games.
Malawi is level on points with the Super Eagles after defeating Namibia 1-0 in Windhoek with Frank Mhanogo scoring the lone goal.
Malawi played the game without their coach, Edington Ng’onamo, who flew back home following the death of his son after a long battle with cancer.
Namibia has three points from three matches in Group F and Kenya is rooted to the foot of the table with two points.
