October 1, Iyore, Dazzling Mirage and Others Battle For ‘Best Nigerian Film’ at AMAA

Nollywood movies ‘Invasion 1897’, ‘Dazzling Mirage’, ‘October 1’, ‘Iyore’ and ‘A Place in the Stars’ have been nominated for the Bayelsa Government sponsored ‘Best Nigerian Film’ at the the 2015 African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.

South Africa’s iNumber  Number, Nigeria’s October 1 and Mauritania’s Timbuktu also emerged most nominated movies  for this year’s edition of the award. The three movies which have a total of 27 nominations will battle for theBest Film’ and ‘Best director’ categories.

iNumber  Number bagged twelve  nominations including achievement in Soundtrack, achievement in cinematography, achievement in editing, achievement in make-up, achievement in production design, Best film in African Language and achievement in Sound.  

Timbukutu was nominated for achievement in editing, achievement in cinematography, achievement in sound, achievement in soundtrack and Best film in African Language. Timbukutu bagged eight nominations in total.

Kunle Afolayan’s October 1 also bagged seven nominations including achievement in production design, achievement in editing, and achievement in costume design

Other nominated Nollywood movies include Dazzling Mirrage,  The Throne,  A Place in the Stars, Invasion 1897, 30 Days in Atlanta with “Iya Alalake” been the only Yoruba movie nominated.  Iya Alalake” was nominated at the best comedy category.
