Georgia Oboh is one young woman shaping the history of golf in Nigeria. She is the first Nigerian to feature in the Ladies European Tour (LET), a series of golf tournaments for elite female golf players around the world, which started off at the prestigious Dar es Salaam Blue Course in Rabat, Morocco.
The LET event, which is tagged the Lalla Meryem Cup, will provide a platform for her to prepare for the Youth Olympics Game (YOG). The Lalla Meryem Cup is a female professional golf tournament in Morocco under the high patronage of His Majesty, King Mohammed VI. Although, as an amateur, she will not be eligible for a share of the €450,000 prize purse at the LET event which was held on April 19 to 22.
The 17 year-old is the first Nigerian golfer to feature in the Olympics. The former student of Golf Academy in Manchester, UK will also be representing at the 2018 African Youth Games.
