NITDA Offers Free Virtual ICT Learning For Civil Servants And Others

One key thing that has been happening since the index case in Nigeria and consequent lockdown has been the wide accessibility to courses and learnings especially for digital skills which is the future of work. Previously, I have share about Pluralsight’s #FREEAPRIL where all courses were for free for the month of April. I have also shared courses on Entrepreneurship by NECA (Nigerian Employers Consultative Association). Interestingly, this free access to learning programs has been provided both by public organizations and private organizations. Today, I will be sharing with you another learning program the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) through its NITDA Academy for Research and Training (NART) launched called Learning Never Stops Programme.

Training Categories

In an effort to leverage ICT for enhanced digital economy, reduce the impact of COVID-19 and allow Nigerian in all sectors especially civil servants to access digital education and skills, the Learning Never Stops Programme created the following training categories that would prepare people for digitally marketable skills to drive the 21st digital economy:

The programme is hosted by NITDA in partnership with Microsoft, Oracle, CISCO, Huawei, and Harvard University, among others.

According to the country Manager of CISCO, Olakunle Olatimeyi, said: “the launching of the Academy is an important journey for Nigeria, not just now that we are faced with COVID-19, but for the future.”

He advised the Ministry to make sure it carries service providers along, and offer them subsidy so as to make their services affordable for more Nigerians.
