Niniola Becomes Most Popular Female Nigerian Artist On Spotify

Niniola has created a new record by becoming the first female Nigerian artiste to have over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The music streaming platform, which uses listenership as a measure of artiste popularity, has shown that she is the most popular female artiste in Nigeria, and that her music is fast gaining wide acceptance among music enthusiasts.
This Is Me
The AfroHouse singer put out her debut album This Is Me late last year. The album contains 13 tracks some of which feature collaborations with Patoranking, Terry Apalla, Devin Di Dakota and Charmant. Her song, Maradona, has led the pack with over 1.7 million streams on Spotify.
She came to the limelight in 2013 after finishing third runner-up in season 6 of Project Fame West Africa. Her debut single got her nominated for the “Most Promising Act to Watch” award at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and listed on NotJustOk’s “15 Artists to Watch” in 2015.
Since her appearance on music mainstream, she has won several awards, including Best African Collaboration for Mbilombilo remix at the 2016 AFRIMA awards, Choice Female Vocalist of the Year 2017 (Nigerian Teens Choice Awards), MAYA Awards 2018 Youth Artist Of The Year and The Glazia Awards Person Of The Year 2018.
Niniola’s 2017 album earned her 6 nominations at this years Headies, including Best R&B/POP Album, and Best African Artist at the South African Music Awards.
She has since created a unique music genre for herself; AfroHouse, which is a blend of Fela’s Afrobeat and house music, which hails from 1970’s Chicago.
