According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a mountain is a landmass that projects conspicuously above its surroundings and is higher than a hill. It is also a large landform that rises above surrounding land in a limited area usually in form of a peak.

Chappel Waddi
This 2,419m mountain is considered the second highest point in Sub Saharan West Africa. It is located in Gashaka Gumti Forest Reserve and Gashaka-Gumpti National Park in Taraba State.
Mount Patti
It was on this 458m historic landmark located in Lokoja, Kogi State, that the name of our dear country Nigeria was arrived at. Here, Lord Luggard and Florence Shaw named the province of the Niger area, Nigeria.
Tangale Peak/Kilang Mountain
Located on Kilange Mountain, the Tangale Peak, 796m high, is the highest peak of all the 24 mountains in Gombe State.
Kafasiradi Hills
Located in Sardauna, Taraba State, Kafasiradi Hills has an elevation of 1742m.
Zeim Hill
With an elevation of 1,593m, Mount Zeim is found in Bauchi State.

Tsaunin Kwaiki
This mountain is 2,359m high, and is found in Niger State.
There are some mountain ranges worthy of mention such as Mambilla Plateau in Taraba State, Obudu Plateau and Sankwala Mountains in Cross River, Shere Hills in Jos (Plateau State), and Atlantika Mountains and Mount Dimlang in Adamawa State.
Ensure you include a visit to some of these sites in your bucket list if you want to experience a hiker’s paradise in Nigeria.
