A young Nigerian, Bayode Treasures-Olawunmi, is attempting to set a Guinness World Record in the Marathon Reading Aloud category.
“I remember, there was a year I bought a book with my savings meant for Christmas clothes.” – Bayode
Treasures-Olawunmi wants to read for 120 hours straight (with a 2-hour break every 24 hours). He began reading at 1:30 PM on Monday, February 26th and will continue to read until March 3rd, 2018.
The event is currently holding at the YouRead Library at Herbert Macaulay Way Yaba, Lagos.
GT Bank, Tagheuer and the Lagos State Government are among those sponsoring the event.
For the love of books
Treasures-Olawunmi, as disclosed by World Street Journal.org, on Sunday expressed that he had always loved to read good materials right from his secondary school days. He added that it is his love for books and a bid to make reading culture popular in Nigeria which led to his gunning for a world record.
