Nigerians In UEFA Champions League 1

By Arinze Ude. Super Eagles players, Emmanuel Emmenike and Efe Ambrose squared off against each other when their teams, Spartak Moscow and Glasgow Celtic met in Russia last night. Emmanuel Emmenike was a thorn in Ambrose’s flesh and finished the match with a brace, although Celtic won the match 3-2 courtesy of goals from Gary Hopper, Kombarov’s own goal and a late minute headed goal from Giorgios Samaras. Rabiu Ibrahim didn’t make the bench for the Scottish team. Elderson Echiejile was once again left out of FC Braga’s 2-nil win against Turkish outfit, Galatasaray. Although he played all 90 minutes at the weekend, Elderson is yet to be picked for the UEFA Champions League this season and rumour has it that he’s prepared to quit the club in January. Victor Moses started his first Champions League match for Chelsea against Danish debutants, FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark. He missed a glorious chance in the first half to put the visitors ahead. Chelsea went to win 4-nil, with goals coming from Juan Mata (a brace), David Luiz and Ramirez.
