Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has continued with his impressive form for his French Ligue 1 side, Lille OSC, earning him nomination for the Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September 2019. The Nigerian made the list alongside Algerian forward, Islam Slimani, and Nantes’ Nicolas Pallois.
Osimhen, 20, scored two goals in four league matches for Lille in September, one in Lille’s 2-1 win against Angers SCO on September 13, 2019, and one in the 2-0 victory at home against Strasbourg on September 25, 2019.
The tall and energetic Super Eagles striker was named Lille’s Player of the month for September 2019 on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Osimhen has scored seven goals and registered two assists in nine Ligue 1 matches for Les Dogues this current season, and has been impressive in the UEFA Champions League, scoring Lille’s only goal in the European elite football competition so far this season with a brilliant header in their 1-2 loss against 2012 champions, Chelsea FC of England. Nigerian soccer fans are hopeful Osimhen will replicate his goal-scoring form for the Super Eagles when they confront the Selecao of Brazil on October 13, 2019.
