Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Samuel Chukwueze, has been shortlisted for the 2019 Kopa Trophy Award.
The Kopa Award was created in 2018 and is named after former French footballer, Raymond Kopa. The award is won by the best Under 21 footballer in the world.
Chukwueze, 20, has registered two goals in eight league appearances for his Spanish club, Villareal CF, so far this season, and is the first footballer from Nigeria to be nominated for the award.

The 2019 AFCON bronze medalist is nominated alongside Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi, Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, Jadon Sancho of Borrussia Dortmund, Everton young forward Moise Lean, and Vicinus Jr of Real Madrid. 20-year-old Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, Andrei Lounine of Real Valladolid, Bayern Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, and Valencia’s Kang-in Lee completed the list. Last year, Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, won the award. Former winners of the Ballon d’Or will pick the winner of the Kopa prize, which will be presented on December 2, 2019 during the Ballon d’Or award ceremony.
