In Nigeria and every other part of the world, it is quite difficult to identify young special talents with a glaring future in whatever sports they choose to be competitive in. Just like Argentina was lucky enough to identify the footballing gift in Lionel Messi at a very young age. The case of 10-year-old Nigerian boxing sensation, Sultan Adekoya, can be likened to that of the Argentine football great. It did not take long for the Nigerian Minister (Sunday Dare) to declare ‘’there is gold in this kid,’’ and I am quite certain that the gold identified by the Minister is a bright future in the world of boxing for the kid, which undoubtedly should equally translate to winning an Olympic Gold for Nigeria in the near future. In a 23 seconds video shared on Twitter by the Nigerian sports minister, Adekoya thrilled a lot of Nigerians with his amazing mastery of the boxing art. At such a young age, Adekoya commands a perfect head movement and footwork, something rare to find in most boxers his age. His coach, Tito, puts in a lot of work into the development of the kid who just needs to be rightly nurtured to attain the heights of Nigerian boxing greats like Anthony Joshua.
