Nigerian, Alex Eyengho, Becomes VP of International Film Association

Nollywood producer and President of the Association of Nollywood Core Producers (ANCOP), Alex Eyengho, has been elected Vice President of International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). He elected over the weekend at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
Alex said that, “My election is not about me or ANCOP. It is about deepening the Nollywood brand. It is about attracting maximum respect to Nigerian film producers at the international level. It is about Nigeria. It is about Africa. This is a confirmation and testimony to the fact that we are on the right track in Nollywood. The election is over. We must get to work immediately. Because of my humble experience in the industry, I know I shall hit the ground running with a view to ensuring that value is added to Nollywood and the African film community as a whole within the ambit of the lofty aims and objectives of FIAPF.”
According to FIAPF’s website, “The FIAPF’s members are 30 producers’ organizations from 27 countries on five continents, FIAPF is the only organization of film and television producers with a global reach. FIAPF’s mandate is to represent the economic, legal and regulatory interests which film and TV production industries in five continents have in common.”
“FIAPF is also a regulator of international film festivals, including some of the world’s most significant ones. FIAPF’ International Film Festivals’ Regulations are a trust contract between the film business and the festivals who depend on their cooperation for their prestige and economic impact.”
Alex Eyengho was born in Lagos on May 8th 1969, he today holds an HND in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Nigeria.
He is a Practicing Film Maker, Actor and Journalist. He is the Editor of Warri Mirror, a grassroots newspaper focusing basically on the Niger Delta, Nigeria. He joined the Nigerian Movie Industry in 1997 when he debuted as an actor with a minor role in the film “Back To Africa”. Since then, he has featured in other films and soap operas like Judgement Day, Second Coming, Nanna of the Niger Delta, Ogodobiri, Scruples and other stage performances.
As a crew member, he has produced Ogodobiri, an Itsekiri Language Film fully subtitled in English Language and Beyond Obligation (1&2). He was the Assistant Director for these two Movies. He was also the Assistant Director for the Award-Winning Nanna of the Niger Delta.
Alex O. Eyengho is presently the Secretary – General of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) Nigeria, the umbrella body for movie entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Similarly, he is the National President of the Association of Itsekiri Performing Artistes (AIPA). He is married to former Miss Matel Ejejigbe, an actress, model and entertainment writer by profession. Alex is well traveled both locally and internationally.
