1. A worldwide poll by
CNN has rated the Nigerian accent as the sixth sexiest in the world. In a Facebook poll involving 13 other accents from various parts of the world published on its website on Thursday, the Nigerian accent was rated so ahead of the Brazilian Portugese, Argentinian, Thai and other accents.
2. The Nation reports that the
annual Abuja International Motor Fair will hold at the Eagle Square, Abuja in October. Chairman, organising committee, Ifeanyichukwu Agwu, said the event is targeted at boosting investments in the sector which is seriously assuming its rightful place in the Nigerian economy.

The Managing Director, PAL Pensions Limited, Mr. Dave Uduanu has predicted that the private equity market will surpass the bond market and rise to $35 billion by next year. Uduanu, who is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) said this in an exclusive interview with THISDAY recently. The prediction, he explained was due to the increase in pension contributions and its influence on the private equity market.

Globacom, has become the second biggest mobile network operator (MNO) in Nigeria. According to The Guardian checks, the latest subscriber statistics from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) put Globacom second after MTN Nigeria and ahead of Airtel telecommunications and Etisalat, reports the Guardian.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has approved N2billion to be accessed by small scale entrepreneurs in Benue state, under the Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMSEs), development scheme. Governor of Benue State Gabriel Suswam, who is a member of the National Council on MSMSEs urged small scale entrepreneurs in the state to take advantage of the facility to enhance their businesses and also boost economic activities in the state.

Interswitch Transnational Holding, a pan-African integrated payments company, has acquired a majority shareholding in Paynet Group, an East African multi-institutional payments provider. The partnership will enable Paynet Group combine businesses with Interswitch, as the existing shareholders of Paynet Group will become shareholders of Interswitch.
