Heritage Bank Limited has launched an initiative to empower the entire school community through a product tagged ‘SkoolBank’. According to the bank, the initiative is part of its vision to transform the education landscape of the nation and prepare a generation that is well armed to meet the highly technical challenges of the next century on a global territory.
2. Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa have been ranked as Africa’s top investment destinations in Ernst & Young’s (EY’s) Africa Attractiveness Survey. The survey revealed a dramatic improvement in the continent’s perceived attractiveness, now at second place. Although foreign direct investment (FDI) numbers varied, it showed that companies are successfully growing in Africa.
3.Akwa Ibom State will be one of the first states in the federation to benefit from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) N220 billion Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund (MSMEDF) following a resolution by the state legislature giving the state the go-ahead to participate in the scheme.

Nigeria earned about N68.957 billion from lifting Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, for both export and domestic consumption in 2013, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has revealed. The NNPC in its Annual Statistical Bulletin 2013, disclosed that the country lifted 417,924 metric tonnes, MT LPG in 2013, despite LPG production of 409, 712 MT.

Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women, NNEW, has announced that it is planning to set up a Micro Finance before the end of January 2015, to meet the business needs of women without asking for collaterals.

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has formally commissioned the Lagos Energy Academy, to groom electricity professionals. The governor stated that, “This first key step will herald the training of many batches of power engineers and artisans who will provide the necessary human capital for lighting Lagos and Nigeria.”

Almost 30 percent of global oil and gas discoveries made over the last five years were in sub-Saharan Africa, reflecting growing global appetite for African resources, the World Energy Outlook Special Report said.

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) will roll out about 500,000 prepaid meters to customers who do not have meters and are presently being billed through estimation, the Managing Director of IKEDC, Mr. Abiodun Ajifowobaje, has said.
