Nigeria Striker Uche Nwofor Joins Heerenveen on Loan

Super Eagles forward, Uche Nwofor, 21, has joined Dutch side SC Heerenveen on a season-long loan. He played for VVV Venlo, in the Dutch league. He had offers from Russia and Turkey, but opted to stay. “I am happy. This is an opportunity to further improve my development as a player,” Nwofor told BBC Sport. “I want to continue my football education in Holland and I believe I am at the right club. I’m excited and looking forward to working under Marco Van Basten. I believe as a striker I will learn a lot from him.” Nwofor scored twice when Nigeria played South Africa, at the Mandela Challenge Cup, a few weeks back. He will be playing at a club that had Ruud van Nistelrooy and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on the roster.
