The Super Eagles of Nigeria maintained 31st spot in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday, February 20, 2020. Three-time African champions, Nigeria, remained unmoved as they were placed in the December 2019 ranking. The latest ranking now leaves the Gernot Rohr’s charges as the third best team in Africa behind Senegal and Tunisia, as Algeria and Morocco complete Africa’s top five. Senegal, positioned 20th in the world, sit at the top of the summit in Africa with 1555 points, while the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia sit 2nd in Africa and 27th in the world. Placed 118th in the world and 30th in Africa is Nigeria’s next AFCON 2021 qualifiers opponents, Sierra Leone. Belgium, France, and Brazil remain the top three on the global ranking.

I feel there is nothing to worry about because it is not mandatory to move up every time…It has not happened this time but I believe the Super Eagles won’t remain static. Once they play the international matches lined up for them in the World Cup and AFCON qualifiers, they will move up…So personally, I have not seen anything to be bothered about
